Egypt has secured substantial quantities of Russian wheat, Eduard Zernin, Chairman of the Union of Grain Exporters, announced on Thursday.

This deal is unaffected by Russia's withdrawal from the grain export agreement.

Zernin pointed out that the tender, which took place on August 1, will be fulfilled for the Egyptian side during 1-10 September and 15-25 October.

The Arab Republic purchased 360,000 tons of wheat, including 300,000 tons at a price of $250 per ton.

This is the first tender conducted by the Egyptian General Authority for Supply Commodities following Russia's suspension of the Ukrainian grain export agreement through the Black Sea.

Russian President Vladimir Putin recently held talks with his Turkish counterpart Tayyip Erdogan and highlighted that Moscow would return to the deal "as soon as the West actually fulfills all the obligations to Russia" contained within it.

The Kremlin said: "It was noted that in the conditions of a complete lack of progress in the implementation of the Russian part of the 'grain deal', its further extension has lost all meaning."
