Egypt and Saudi Arabia have signed a bilateral agreement granting mutual exemption from short-stay visas for holders of diplomatic and special passports, in a step aimed at further deepening strategic ties and facilitating official exchanges.

The agreement was inked on Wednesday by Egypt’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, Emigration and Egyptian Expatriates Badr Abdelatty and Saudi Arabia’s Foreign Minister, Prince Faisal bin Farhan, on the sidelines of a consultative ministerial meeting in Riyadh, according to a statement issued by Egypt’s Foreign Ministry on Thursday.

The deal underscores the strength and depth of relations between the two countries and reflects ongoing efforts to advance bilateral cooperation across multiple sectors in line with their shared interests.

It is expected to streamline travel procedures for eligible passport holders on a reciprocal basis, enabling smoother execution of official duties, strengthening institutional cooperation, and enhancing coordination between Cairo and Riyadh.
