Egypt –Saudi Arabia Ink Agreement to Produce Electricity from Wind

The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and Egypt signed, on Tuesday, a memorandum of understanding (MoU) related to the implementation of a project to produce electricity from the wind with a capacity of 10 gigawatts in Egypt.

The Saudi Press Agency reported that Saudi Energy Minister Prince Abdul Aziz bin Salman held a meeting in Riyadh with Egyptian Minister of Electricity and Renewable Energy Dr.Muhammad Shaker.

The Saudi agency added that the two ministers discussed during the meeting the progress of the electrical interconnection between the two countries, aspects of cooperation in the fields of renewable energy, and hydrogen.

After the meeting, "the two ministers witnessed the signing of an MoU between the Egyptian Authority for the Development and Use of New and Renewable Energy, the Egyptian Electricity Transmission Company, and the Saudi ACWA Power Company, related to the three parties' desire to implement a project to produce electricity from wind energy with a capacity of 10 gigawatts in Egypt."
