Egypt’s Foreign Minister Badr Abdelatty and Saudi Foreign Minister Faisal bin Farhan Al Saud discussed bilateral ties and regional developments during a phone call, reaffirming their commitment to close coordination on issues affecting the Middle East.
The two ministers underscored the depth of the strategic relationship between Egypt and Saudi Arabia and expressed their commitment to further expanding cooperation across various fields in a way that serves the interests of both countries.
They also exchanged views on regional developments, stressing the importance of building on the momentum created by the signing of a memorandum of understanding between the United States and Iran to reinforce de-escalation efforts and promote regional stability.
Abdelatty and Prince Faisal emphasized that the security of the Gulf states is an integral part of Arab national security. They also stressed the need to safeguard freedom of navigation in accordance with international law and rejected unilateral actions that could disrupt international shipping or global trade.
The ministers also reviewed the latest developments in Lebanon, the Palestinian issue and the Red Sea, reaffirming the shared positions of Egypt and Saudi Arabia on these regional files.
They agreed to maintain close consultation and coordination in the coming period to support regional security and stability and strengthen joint Arab efforts to address current challenges.
