On the sidelines of his official visit to the Russian capital, Egypt’s Foreign Minister Badr Abdelatty held talks on Friday with Vyacheslav Volodin, focusing on strengthening bilateral ties and expanding parliamentary cooperation.
During the meeting, Abdelatty underscored Egypt’s interest in enhancing coordination between the two countries’ legislative bodies, expressing hope to welcome Volodin to Cairo in the near future. He said such a visit would contribute to advancing bilateral relations and opening broader avenues for cooperation across multiple sectors.
The Egyptian minister affirmed the importance of activating joint parliamentary committees and frameworks to boost institutional coordination, facilitate direct communication, and promote the exchange of expertise between lawmakers in both countries. He emphasized the pivotal role of parliamentary engagement in supporting the overall development of Egypt-Russia relations.
Talks also covered prospects for expanding economic, trade, and investment cooperation. Abdelatty stressed the need to accelerate the implementation of the Russian Industrial Zone project in the Suez Canal Economic Zone, as well as efforts to attract additional Russian investments to Egypt. He further pointed to ongoing cooperation on establishing a grain logistics hub aimed at enhancing economic integration between the two nations.
Abdelatty reaffirmed the role of the Russian State Duma in supporting the strategic partnership between Cairo and Moscow. He also highlighted the importance of building on existing cooperation in key sectors, including energy security through the El Dabaa Nuclear Power Plant, as well as collaboration in oil, gas, and food security.
