The Secretary of the Russian Security Council, Nikolai Patrushev held talks on Wednesday, with the Egyptian President's national security advisers, Faiza Aboul Naga and Magdi Abdel Ghaffar, in Moscow.
They discussed ways to boost bilateral cooperation between the two countries in counter-terrorism and Information Security (InfoSec) fields, as well as a number of joint ongoing economic and trade projects.
In a statement, Patrushev affirmed that Russia considers Egypt an important partner in the Middle East and North Africa, referring to the convergence of views between both countries on various international issues.
He also announced Moscow’s readiness to enhance coordination with Cairo in regional affairs.
It is worth mentioning that a comprehensive partnership and strategic cooperation agreement was signed in Sochi on October 17, 2018, during Egyptian President Abdel Fattah El- Sisi's visit to Russia.
The deal aims to further strengthen cooperation between Russia and Egypt in political, trade, economic, cultural, and other fields, and defines mechanisms to deepen coordination between Moscow and Cairo at various levels.
