Egypt, Russia Commemorate 80 Years of Diplomatic Ties

Egypt and Russia are ushering in a year-long celebration to mark the 80th anniversary of their diplomatic relationship. The festivities kick off this Saturday with both nations expressing a commitment to deepening ties in various sectors.

Sameh Shoukry, Egypt’s Foreign Minister, and his Russian counterpart, Sergey Lavrov, have exchanged messages that underscore the lasting and deep-rooted relationship between their nations. Their letters emphasize a mutual desire to enhance collaborative efforts across multiple domains, as well as to strengthen the friendship between the peoples of both countries, according to a statement released by the Egyptian Foreign Ministry.

The year-long commemoration will feature an array of activities and collaborative programs aimed at illuminating the rich and diverse history of Egyptian-Russian relations.

In anticipation of this milestone, the Egyptian Foreign Ministry illuminated its building on Friday evening with the words "Egypt, Russia 80" to herald the upcoming year of celebrations.
