On Saturday, Egypt’s Health Ministry reported 910 new coronavirus cases, bringing the country’s total up to 373,509.

The total number of COVID-19-related deaths has now reached 21,277 nationwide after the ministry announced 43 deaths.

About 700 patients were discharged from quarantine at isolation hospitals, raising the total number of fully-recovered cases to 310,749.

Egypt has vaccinated about 40 million citizens against the deadly virus.

The Ministry of Health announced early Saturday that the authorities reported the earliest three Omicron cases in Egypt.

The three patients were detected by the authorities' strict restrictions amid the concerns over Omicron variant emergence as all passengers coming to Egypt are checked, and tested for COVID-19.

Therefore, the infected people were found among 26 passengers who tested positive for COVID-19.

All positive cases were quarantined in isolation hospitals, in addition to detecting all persons who were directly linked to them.
