On Saturday, Egypt reported 854 new coronavirus infections, bringing the total number of cases since the outbreak began in February 2020 to 495,373, according to the daily update of the country's Ministry of Health and Population.
The ministry also recorded 8 coronavirus-related fatalities over the past 24 hours, bringing the total tally of deaths to 24,277.
The daily report added that the total number of recoveries increased to 424,831 after 733 patients were discharged from hospitals nationwide in the past 24 hours.
Following a remarkable rise in the two preceding months driven by the fifth wave of the pandemic, Egypt's daily coronavirus infection toll has been on the downward curve since the last week of February.
