Today, Egypt rejected the press release issued by France's Ministry of Foreign Affairs regarding the arrest of the Administrative Director of the Egyptian Initiative for Personal Rights.

Ahmed Hafez, the spokesman for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, denounced the French interference in Egyptian internal affairs and the attempt to influence the investigations of the Public Prosecution.

Since, Egypt refrains from interfering with the measures taken by the law enforcement authorities in other countries, including France.

Hafez expressed, in a statement, his regret that the statement issued by France did not respect Egyptian laws.

Hafez also condemned the French defence of an entity operating illegally in the field of civil work, since the EIPR is a registered company that practices other activities in contravention of what Law No. 149 of 2015 stipulates.

He stressed that Egypt respects the principles of law and equality and that any work in any field must be regulated by the applicable laws and those who violate them are held accountable.

He stressed that no one enjoys has immunity in any field, noting the need to respect the principles of national sovereignty, as stipulated in international law that governs relations between states.
