Egypt announced its categorical rejection of the Turkish statement on the Egyptian “legal procedures” taken by authorities against an “illegal” Turkish digital media platform that was spreading “false” news about the situation in the country, the Egyptian foreign ministry said in a statement.
The statement added that the platform was working under the cover of a company founded by some terrorist members of the outlawed Muslim Brotherhood (MB) group with the aim of spreading false and fabricated news about the political, economic, security and human rights situation in Egypt, and sending them to Turkey to “distort Egypt’s image either internally or abroad
The spokesman for the foreign ministry Ahmed Hafez said that Egypt has taken all legal measures in this regard in accordance with the laws and regulations taken in dealing with such cases.
The spokesman condemned the Turkish statement, saying that it was released by a regime that takes a very high rank in abusing the freedom of opinion, expression, and press, as well as other basic rights and freedoms.
He also accused the Turkish regime of financing a big number of extremist groups and terrorist militias in many countries in the region, with the aim of enabling them to control the fate of their peoples by force of arms and by using rogue methods of intimidation.
It is noteworthy that Egyptian security forces arrested on Wednesday four persons, three of them are members of the terrorist MB group, suspected of running a suspicious media outlet central Cairo, according to an official statement by the Ministry of Interior.
“In the context of uncovering plots schemed by the terrorist group of the MB and its sponsoring countries, the National Security Apparatus figured out that a Turkish cyber media committee is renting an apartment at Bab El Luk neighborhood as a center for its hostile activity,” the statement read.
The Turkish outlet was using the alias of “SETA Center for Studies”. It was founded by the terrorist Muslim Brotherhood group for the purpose of making negative reports on Egypt.
