Egypt Reiceves 115K Doses of AstraZeneca Vaccine from Latvia

Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research and Acting Minister of Health and Population Khaled Abdel Ghaffar announced on Sunday, that Egypt received 115,000 doses of AstraZeneca coronavirus vaccine from Latvia.

This comes within the state's plan to persify and expand the provision of coronavirus vaccines, in order to preserve the state's gains in addressing the pandemic.

 

Moreover, the minister added that this shipment will be subject to analysis in the laboratories of the Egyptian Drug Authority before being distributed among vaccination centers across the republic.

On Saturday, Egypt’s Health Ministry reported 2,018 new coronavirus cases, bringing the country’s total up to 421,478.

The total number of COVID-19-related deaths has now reached 22,566 nationwide after the ministry announced 44 deaths.

About 891 patients were discharged from quarantine at isolation hospitals, raising the total number of fully recovered cases to 354,300.

According to health officials, Egypt has managed so far to vaccinate around 40.2% of its population against Coronavirus,.

The country is also aiming to vaccinate 70% of its citizens in the coming period.
