Egypt Receives New Moderna Vaccine Patch

Egypt received on Friday the second patch of Moderna COVID-19 vaccine, the Ministry of Health announced. The total number of vaccine doses of the new shipment is 3,575,000 doses.

Moderna is one of the authorized vaccines in Egypt by the Egyptian Drug Authority (EDA), alongside a number of vaccines such as Johnson & Johnson, Sinopharm, Sinovac, Sputnik V, Pfizer, AstraZeneca, and Sputnik Light.

In the same context, EDA recommended that the period between the two doses be 21 days.

Egypt received the first shipment of Moderna vaccine last, according to Dr. Khaled Abdel Ghaffar, Higher Education, and Acting Health Minister. The shipment comprises 784,280 doses.

Currently, authorities are targeting vaccinating 40% of Egypt's residents by the end of this year. Therefore, huge quantities of COVID-19 vaccines were distributed all over the country's vaccination hubs.

Moreover, several vaccination requirements were imposed to include employees in governmental institutions, university students, and the tourism sector and its related fields workers.

In addition, the state is working on locally manufacturing different kinds of COVID-19 vaccines such as Pfizer, Moderna, and Sinovac, alongside, purchasing various vaccines brands such as the single-dose Johnson & Johnson, Sputnik V, and the two-dose Astrazeneca and its Indian-manufactured vaccine.
