Egypt Receives 65,000 Tons of Ukrainian Wheat at Safaga Port

Egypt's Red Sea ports recorded robust commercial activity on Saturday as Safaga Port received a major shipment of Ukrainian wheat, reinforcing the country's ongoing efforts to secure strategic grain supplies and maintain food security.

According to port authorities, the vessel Princess Katherine arrived at Safaga Port carrying approximately 65,000 tons of Ukrainian wheat. Upon arrival, competent authorities immediately initiated inspection and quality-control procedures to verify the cargo's compliance with Egyptian import standards before authorizing unloading operations.

The wheat shipment comes as Egypt continues to diversify and strengthen its grain import channels to meet domestic demand and support national strategic reserves.

Meanwhile, the vessel PELAGOS Express departed the port following the completion of its scheduled operations.

The Red Sea Ports Authority's Media Center reported that total maritime traffic across its ports reached five vessels during the reporting period, reflecting continued momentum in regional trade and logistics activities.

Cargo handling operations amounted to approximately 70,000 tons of goods, alongside the movement of 282 trucks and 16 vehicles. Imports accounted for the bulk of activity, with three vessels delivering around 66,000 tons of cargo, in addition to 138 trucks and 12 vehicles.

Export operations involved two vessels carrying roughly 4,000 tons of goods, while 144 trucks and four vehicles were processed through outbound terminals.

At Nuweiba Port, authorities reported the handling of 1,200 tons of cargo and 161 trucks through shuttle voyages operated by the ferries Al Hussein and Sina, underscoring the port's role in facilitating regional transport and trade flows.

Passenger traffic across ports operated by the Red Sea Ports Authority reached approximately 600 travelers, highlighting sustained movement in both commercial and passenger maritime sectors.

Officials noted that port operations continue to proceed normally, supported by inspection, logistics, and customs procedures aimed at ensuring the efficient handling of cargo and maintaining the smooth flow of maritime traffic across Egypt's Red Sea gateway.
