Egypt received three million doses of Pfizer coronavirus vaccine at Cairo International Airport from the United States on Sunday morning.
Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research and Acting Minister of Health and Population, Khaled Abdel Ghaffar, pointed out that the shipment is provided by the US government through the “COfax” mechanism in cooperation with the Global Alliance for Vaccines and Immunisation (GAVI).
In his recent remarks at the World Youth Forum in Sharm El-Sheikh, Ambassador Jonathan R. Cohen said: “Our two governments have been working together since the beginning of the pandemic to limit the spread of the virus.”

To date, the United States has delivered 19.5 million high-quality U.S. vaccine doses that will help protect the people of Egypt from coronavirus.
This latest delivery highlights the Biden-Harris Administration's continued commitment to share vaccines with the world as we confront together the challenges of new variants of coronavirus.
In addition to the vaccines, the U.S. Government, through USAID, has provided more than $55 million to support Egypt’s coronavirus response, reaching nearly 18 million people with assistance.
USAID programs train healthcare workers, help deliver vaccines to the Egyptian people, improve tracking and response to the pandemic, and boost small businesses.
This support builds on the more than $1 billion the United States has invested in Egypt over the past 40 years to improve the health of all Egyptians.
