Egypt’s Rafah Border Crossing on Sunday received a new group of wounded and ill Palestinians from the Gaza Strip for medical treatment in Egyptian hospitals, as part of Cairo’s ongoing humanitarian efforts to support Palestinians amid the worsening conditions in the enclave.
Medical sources in North Sinai said the crossing received 11 injured and sick patients, accompanied by 33 family members. Upon arrival, specialised medical teams conducted immediate preliminary examinations and comprehensive health assessments to determine the most appropriate treatment pathways for each case.
Health authorities have raised readiness levels at designated hospitals to ensure the availability of medical staff, equipment, and necessary treatment capacities. The patients are set to be transferred to several specialised hospitals across Egypt according to the nature and severity of their injuries and medical conditions, with the aim of ensuring prompt care and the best possible outcomes.
The transfer is part of Egypt’s broader humanitarian response to the crisis in Gaza, which includes facilitating medical evacuations and providing urgent healthcare support to Palestinians affected by the ongoing conflict.
