Egypt’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, Dr. Badr Abdelatty, has reaffirmed Egypt’s firm support for the unity, sovereignty, and territorial integrity of Yemen, during a phone call on Monday with Badr bin Hamad Al Busaidi, Foreign Minister of the Sultanate of Oman.

The call took place within the framework of ongoing consultation and coordination between Egypt and Oman on regional and international issues.

According to Ambassador Tamim Khallaf, spokesperson for Egypt’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Abdelatty emphasized the special nature of Egyptian-Omani relations, describing them as rooted in longstanding brotherly ties and a strong alignment of views on key regional and global matters.

Strengthening Bilateral Cooperation

During the conversation, the Egyptian foreign minister stressed the mutual commitment to advancing bilateral cooperation, building on the tangible progress achieved in recent years. He highlighted the importance of continued coordination and intensified consultation, as well as expanding cooperation in economic, trade, and investment sectors, in a way that serves shared interests and supports development and stability in both countries and the wider region.

Gaza Developments and Ceasefire Efforts

The two ministers also exchanged views on the latest developments in the Gaza Strip. Abdelatty outlined Egypt’s efforts to consolidate the ceasefire, ensure its sustainability, and implement the subsequent stages of the U.S. President’s plan, including the uninterrupted delivery of humanitarian aid.

He also underscored the need to create conditions for early recovery and reconstruction, while firmly rejecting any actions that could undermine Palestinian territorial unity or weaken prospects for a political settlement.

Yemen and the Horn of Africa

On Yemen, Abdelatty reiterated Egypt’s consistent position in support of Yemen’s unity, territorial integrity, and the preservation of its national state institutions.

Regarding developments in the Horn of Africa, Egypt’s foreign minister expressed strong opposition to any unilateral steps that could infringe upon the sovereignty and unity of Somalia. He reaffirmed Egypt’s support for Somalia’s legitimate state institutions, respect for international law and the United Nations Charter, and the necessity of safeguarding the foundations of stability in the region.
