Egypt Reaffirms Support for Somalia’s Unity, Stability Amid Ongoing Developments

Egypt reiterated its full support for Somalia’s federal government and national institutions on Friday, emphasizing the importance of preserving security and stability in the Horn of Africa nation amid ongoing developments, particularly in the capital, Mogadishu.

During a phone call with Somali Foreign Minister Abdisalam Abdi Ali, Egyptian Foreign Minister Badr Abdelatty discussed the latest situation in Somalia and ways to strengthen bilateral relations and coordination between the two countries.

Abdelatty reaffirmed Egypt’s support for the unity, sovereignty and territorial integrity of Somalia, stressing Cairo’s commitment to safeguarding Somali national institutions.

He also reiterated Egypt’s rejection of any unilateral measures that could undermine Somalia’s territorial unity or infringe upon its sovereignty.

In turn, Ali hailed Egypt’s continued political, developmental and security support for Somalia, highlighting Cairo’s longstanding backing of the country’s unity, sovereignty and territorial integrity.

The two ministers underscored the importance of maintaining consultation and coordination on issues of mutual interest to advance shared interests and strengthen cooperation between the two countries.
