Foreign Minister Badr Abdelatty met with Ioannis Karydas, Chief Executive Officer of the Copelouzos Group, at the start of his visit to Brussels to discuss progress on the Egypt-Greece electricity interconnection project (GREGY).
Abdelatty described the project as a major step toward transmitting clean electricity from Egypt to Greece and onward to European markets, noting its role in supporting energy security in Europe and strengthening the strategic partnership between Egypt and Greece.
The minister reiterated Egypt’s full support for the project and reviewed ongoing coordination with the Ministry of Electricity and Renewable Energy. He also received an update on the latest financing and implementation developments.
Abdelatty expressed interest in expanding the group's investments in Egypt beyond the electricity interconnection project, particularly in the energy, natural gas, and airport development sectors.
He also reviewed investment incentives offered by the Egyptian government to attract foreign investment and welcomed the possibility of the company establishing an office in Egypt to support future expansion plans.
