Egypt’s Deputy Foreign Minister for Expatriate Affairs, Nabil Habashi, held a virtual meeting with members of the Egyptian community in Saudi Arabia as part of Cairo’s ongoing efforts to monitor the conditions of Egyptian nationals living abroad, particularly in the Gulf and wider Arab region.

The meeting was attended by senior Egyptian diplomatic officials, including Assistant Foreign Minister for Consular Affairs Haddad El-Gohary, Egypt’s Ambassador to Saudi Arabia Ehab Abu Sarea, and Egyptian consular representatives in Riyadh and Jeddah.

During the meeting, Habashi stressed the importance of maintaining direct communication with Egyptian communities abroad to monitor their conditions, address concerns, and ensure the continued provision of support and consular services. He said such outreach is particularly important given the exceptional regional circumstances and broader developments affecting the Middle East.

Habashi reassured participants that the overall situation of Egyptian expatriates in Gulf and Arab countries remains stable. At the same time, he urged Egyptian nationals in Saudi Arabia to comply fully with local laws and regulations and to remain in close contact with diplomatic missions when needed.

He also praised the role of the Egyptian Embassy in Riyadh and the consulates in Riyadh and Jeddah for their continued efforts to support Egyptian citizens, facilitate consular procedures, and ensure the safety and well-being of the community.

The meeting included an interactive discussion with participants, during which members of the Egyptian community raised questions and shared concerns related to their living and working conditions. Habashi listened to the issues presented and discussed a range of proposals aimed at improving services and support mechanisms for Egyptians residing in the Kingdom.

He reaffirmed the Foreign Ministry’s commitment to providing continued care and assistance to Egyptians abroad, emphasizing that supporting expatriate communities remains a central priority within Egypt’s diplomatic and consular agenda.
