Egypt’s Foreign Minister Badr Abdelatty reaffirmed Egypt's solidarity with African countries affected by Ebola outbreaks during talks with African Union Commissioner for Health, Humanitarian Affairs and Social Development Ama Amoah, highlighting Cairo's commitment to strengthening the continent's health security.
During their meeting , Abdelatty reviewed the medical and pharmaceutical assistance Egypt has provided to countries affected by the virus to support efforts to contain outbreaks and limit their spread.
He said Egypt considers the health sector a cornerstone of sustainable development across Africa and reiterated Cairo's support for African Union health institutions in responding to health emergencies and improving preparedness for epidemics and other cross-border health threats.
Abdelatty also expressed Egypt's readiness to share its expertise in healthcare and pharmaceuticals, expand cooperation with the African Union Commission on capacity-building programs, and provide access to Egypt's advanced pharmaceutical and vaccine manufacturing capabilities.
The minister highlighted the success of President Abdel Fattah El Sisi's "100 Million Healthy Lives" initiative, saying it has contributed to strengthening health security across the continent.
Moreover, Abdelatty reaffirmed Egypt's commitment to ensuring the successful hosting of the 14th African Games in 2027, describing the event as a demonstration of Egypt's dedication to African cooperation and an opportunity to showcase the potential of the continent's youth.
He said Egypt would continue coordinating closely with the African Union Commission to organize the games in a manner that reflects Africa's aspirations while promoting solidarity and cooperation among African nations.
