Badr Abdelatty, Minister of Foreign Affairs, International Cooperation, and Egyptians Abroad, participated today in the 165th Ordinary Session of the Arab League Council at the ministerial level.
The meeting was held virtually under the chairmanship of the Kingdom of Bahrain to address rapid regional developments and recent attacks targeting several Arab nations.
Foreign Ministry spokesman Tamim Khallaf stated that Abdelatty delivered Egypt’s address during the meeting, where he condemned in the strongest terms the unacceptable and unjustified Iranian attacks that targeted GCC countries, the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan, and the Republic of Iraq.
Moreover, he emphasized that these attacks represent a flagrant violation of the United Nations Charter and international law, directly infringing upon the sovereignty, territorial integrity, and security of Arab nations.
FM also stressed Egypt’s full solidarity with the brotherly Arab states affected by these attacks and pledged all forms of material, political, and diplomatic support.
He further expressed a categorical rejection of any malicious attempts to destabilize Arab national security, whether through direct aggression, the undermining of national institutions, or the creation of parallel entities and the imposition of facts on the ground outside the framework of legitimacy.
Additionally, Abdelatty asserted that Arab security is indivisible and that any threat to an Arab state is a direct threat to Egyptian national security and the shared Arab destiny.
On another front, FM expressed Egypt’s appreciation for the Council’s unanimous decision to recommend to the 35th Arab Summit in Saudi Arabia the support for the candidacy of former Foreign Minister Nabil Fahmy to serve as the Secretary-General of the Arab League for a five-year term starting July 1, 2026.
