Prime Minister (PM) Mostafa Madbouly stated that Egypt is not opposed to Ethiopia's development or that of any other country, but such development must take into account Egypt's rights and interests.

During a press conference, PM emphasized that Egypt has not been affected by the filling of the dam so far.

However, he warned that real risks could arise if the region experiences prolonged drought for several years, which could pose a significant challenge to the country’s water resources.

Moreover, Madbouly stressed that Egypt will not allow its water security to be threatened, reaffirming that this issue remains one of the state's core principles.
