Egypt’s Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouly said on Thursday that Egypt firmly believes regional integration is a cornerstone of sustainable development and continues to actively participate in joint initiatives across key sectors including infrastructure, energy, health, and digital transformation.

In his address at the 24th Summit of the Common Market for Eastern and Southern Africa (COMESA), Madbouly emphasized that collective action remains the most effective path to maximizing the continent’s resources and advancing shared prosperity.

“Egypt is committed to supporting continental integration within the framework of the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA), which serves as a strategic umbrella to strengthen regional blocs,” Madbouly said.

He added that closer coordination between COMESA and other African trade initiatives is vital to establishing a genuine common African market, attracting investment, and enhancing the competitiveness and resilience of African economies.

The Egyptian premier reiterated that Egypt’s development vision prioritizes partnerships that reinforce Africa’s economic self-reliance and accelerate progress toward the African Union’s Agenda 2063 goals.
