Egyptian Minister of Foreign Affairs, International Cooperation, and Expatriates, Dr. Badr Abdelatty, held urgent phone consultations yesterday evening with Omani Foreign Minister Badr bin Hamad Al-Busaidi and Qatari Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Al Thani.

The high-level discussions focused on the rapid and dangerous military escalation currently threatening regional stability.

The talks centered on the outcomes of recent direct and indirect meetings hosted in Muscat, which aimed at advancing de-escalation efforts and reviving stalled US-Iran negotiations.

During the calls, the ministers analyzed the severe implications of the renewed military flare-up, warning that it poses a direct threat to Middle East security. They underscored the critical need for sustained diplomatic intervention to de-escalate tensions, contain the crisis, and steer the region back toward dialogue and negotiation.

A primary focus of the discussions was maritime security. The three top diplomats emphasized the vital importance of ensuring the safety and freedom of international navigation in the Strait of Hormuz, strictly adhering to international law. They warned against any attempts to disrupt or endanger maritime traffic, highlighting the devastating consequences such actions could have on both regional stability and the global economy.

Concluding their talks, the ministers reaffirmed their commitment to promoting peaceful political solutions and upholding the rules of international law to restore long-term stability to the region.
