Egypt, Qatar Discuss Ways to Enhance Tourism and Antiquities Cooperation

On Wednesday, the Egyptian Minister of Tourism and Antiquities, Mr. Ahmed Issa, welcomed the Qatari Ambassador to Cairo, Mr. Salem Mubarak Al Shafi, at his office in Egypt's new administrative capital today. The key agenda was to discuss avenues for strengthening cooperation in the tourism and antiquities sector between the two nations.

The meeting was also attended by Yumna Al Bahar, Assistant Minister of Tourism and Antiquities for Technical Affairs.

At the beginning of the meeting, Minister Issa welcomed Ambassador Al Shafi and discussed the current trends in inbound tourism from various markets to Egypt, especially the noticeable increase from Qatar, during the first half of the year.

Ambassador Al Shafi expressed his admiration for the development Egypt is undergoing, particularly in the new administrative capital. He underscored that the new capital would emerge as one of the leading capitals in the Arab world in the upcoming years. He also presented an overview of Qatari investment projects in the Egyptian tourism sector.

The meeting addressed ways to enhance cooperation mechanisms to attract more tourists from Qatar to Egypt. The discussion also covered potential investment opportunities in the tourism sector, particularly in the hospitality industry.

At the conclusion of the meeting, the two exchanged commemorative gifts.
