The General Authority for Supply Commodities (GASC) signed contracts to import 410,000 tons of wheat from both Russia and Ukraine.

GASC added on Wednesday that it purchased 120,000 tons of Russian wheat, explaining that the shipment is expected to arrive on September 11-20.

The authority stated that it purchased another 290,000 tons of Russian and Ukrainian wheat (175 Russian and 115 Ukrainian) and shipping is expected to arrive on September 21-30.

The authority indicated that the move is part of the authority's efforts to increase wheat stocks in the country.

According to data from the World Food Organization (FAO), the volume of Egyptian imports of wheat reaches 12.5 million tons annually, the biggest wheat importer in the world.
