Ahmed Anis, Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Egyptian Satellite Company, announced the start of preparations to launch the company's latest satellite (Nilesat 301) to replace (Nilesat 201), which expires in 2028.
Anis added, in press statements, that the current date of the seventh or eighth of June was set as the date for launching the satellite from Florida in the United States of America, after the completion of all testing and operation operations that followed the transfer of the Egyptian satellite from the headquarters of Thales Company in France.
The new Egyptian satellite was manufactured in France and will be launched to space from the "Cap Canaveral" airbase in Florida, as the launch will be carried out by SpaceX International.
Anis pointed out that the satellite manufacturing process took about two and a half years, and it was scheduled to be launched at the beginning of the year, were it not for the conditions of the Coronavirus.
On the technical capabilities of the new moon, Anis said: “NileSat 301 has a lifespan of 15 years, weighs 4.1 tons, and will include 38 lunar channels compared to 26 lunar channels in the current moon 201.
