As Egypt gears up to host the second ministerial meeting of the Khartoum Process on April 9, 2025, Foreign Minister Badr Abdel Aty chaired a coordination meeting on Monday. The meeting, attended by relevant ministry sectors, reviewed the latest preparations, including logistical, ceremonial, and substantive arrangements for the high-level gathering.

The Khartoum Process serves as a platform for coordination, consultation, and political cooperation on migration issues from East Africa to Europe. It includes 40 member states, encompassing European Union countries, Switzerland, Norway, the Horn of Africa, and East African nations. Additionally, the European Commission, the African Union Commission, and several international organizations are partners in the initiative.

Since assuming the presidency of the Khartoum Process in April 2024, Egypt has organized various activities and workshops focused on migration-related topics, including development, combating human trafficking, and curbing migrant smuggling. The upcoming ministerial meeting will provide an opportunity for member states to strengthen collaboration and exchange expertise on these critical issues.
