Egypt Postpones GEM's Inauguration Until Year-End

Prime Minister (PM) Mostafa Madbouly, announced that the opening of Grand Egyptian Museum (GEM) has been postponed to the last quarter of the year.

During his remarks, PM also highlighted that Egypt’s current natural gas reserves have doubled compared to last year.

He addressed citizens directly, urging them to conserve electricity: “A crucial part is rationalizing consumption. We’re all in the same boat, and I appeal to everyone to be mindful of electricity use.”

Furthermore, he noted that the government is prepared for all scenarios in case of escalating regional conflicts.

Moreover, Madbouly reaffirmed the government’s commitment that there will be no power load reductions during the summer months.

PM also explained that while Egypt had only one gas regasification vessel last year, a strategic plan was implemented to increase the number to three vessels this year to accommodate rising electricity demand and enhance power station capacities.

Additionally, he confirmed that all three regasification ships are now operating within Egypt.

Regarding regional tensions, Madbouly reiterated Egypt’s clear stance in condemning Israeli military operations against Iran, warning that this bilateral conflict could escalate and impact the broader region.

During his visit to Beheira Governorate, Madbouly reviewed projects under the presidential “Decent Life” initiative. 

He highlighted the importance of the medical convoys and public services being delivered to citizens, describing the initiative as the most significant national project currently being implemented.

In televised statements following his tour, he also visited several private sector projects, emphasizing the government's ongoing support and encouragement for private sector involvement in national development.
