Egypt, Poland Muftis Discuss Expanding Religious Cooperation and Training

Egypt’s Grand Mufti, Dr. Nazir Mohammad Ayyad, met with Tomasz Miśkiewicz in Cairo to discuss strengthening cooperation in religious training, scholarly exchange and efforts to counter extremism and Islamophobia.

The meeting focused on enhancing joint initiatives in preparing and training muftis and imams, while promoting a balanced and moderate understanding of Islam, officials said.

Ayyad, who also heads the General Secretariat for Fatwa Authorities Worldwide, outlined the institution’s international role in bringing together fatwa bodies under a unified framework. He highlighted several initiatives, including specialized training programs, research centers, the Salam Center and the Global Fatwa Index, which aim to support peaceful coexistence and correct misconceptions about Islam.

Miśkiewicz praised the scholarly role of Egypt’s Dar al-Ifta and expressed interest in expanding cooperation, particularly through training programs for religious leaders in Poland.

Both sides emphasized the importance of international religious dialogue and cooperation in addressing contemporary social and ideological challenges.
