The petroleum sector has succeeded in implementing several projects that have a positive impact on the environment and have so far resulted in reducing carbonic emissions amounting to about 1.347 million tons of carbon dioxide.
These projects include thirteen projects related to the recovery of (Zero Flare) gas in companies in Egypt.
About 40 million cubic feet of gas is recovered per day, and butane gas is extracted from it and directed to operate generators and furnaces instead of diesel, which achieves environmental returns represented in reducing emissions resulting from burning it with torches, and economic returns through the savings resulting from the use of recovered torch gas in operation instead of diesel.
Eighty-eight low-cost projects to improve energy efficiency have been implemented in 31 companies.
