On Monday, Egypt's Minister of Tourism and Antiquities Ahmed Issa held a press conference in London during his visit to participate in the 55th London International Tourism Market (WTM 2023).
The conference was attended by major representatives of British and international media, including newspapers, news agencies and television channels. Ambassador Sherif Kamel, Egyptian Ambassador to London, and Amr El-Kady, CEO of the Egyptian General Authority for Tourism Promotion were present.
The conference began with an introductory speech by Mr. Amr El-Kady, who welcomed the attendees and gave an overview of the developments in the tourist movement coming to Egypt from various tourist markets, especially the British market. He also assured the attendees of the stability of the situation in Egypt.
During the press conference, the Minister reviewed the most significant developments in the tourism industry in Egypt, especially as a result of current events in the region. He pointed to the measures taken by the Ministry in response to these events.
He also reviewed the plans and policies of the Ministry to cooperate with profession’s partners abroad, such as tour operators and airline companies, and to promote the Egyptian tourist destination more in the targeted tourist markets during the coming period.
In the same context, Issa talked about the Ministry’s efforts to improve its supervisory role and the procedures for legislative reform, pointing to the law establishing tourism chambers and organizing a union for them that was recently issued.
He also emphasized the importance of this law in enhancing the role of the private sector, the primary driver of the tourism industry in Egypt.
The Minister further presented some short promotional films that were filmed with tourists of different nationalities who are currently present in a number of Egyptian tourist destinations, during which they talked about their experiences during their visit to these destinations. These films were published on various social networking sites and sent to tour operators and airline companies to promote the Egyptian tourist destination in targeted tourist markets.
