Egypt Participates in Russia-Africa Forum on Nuclear Education

The International Youth Conference "Russia-Africa and Nuclear Education: Opportunities for Successful Development in the Region" will take place in Moscow at 10:00 AM on Friday, February 28.

The event will be hosted at the Russian University of Friendship of Peoples (RUDN) in the Russian capital.

The conference will highlight the importance of nuclear education in contributing to Africa’s development.

Among the key participants are Tatiana Terentyeva, Deputy Director of Rosatom, which oversees Egypt’s El-Dabaa nuclear project; Dr. Vladimir Filippov, former Minister of Education and President of RUDN; Alexander Babakov, Deputy Chairman of the Russian Federation Council; Konstantin Mogilevsky, Deputy Minister of Higher Education; Pavel Shevtsov, Deputy Head of the Federal Agency for International Cooperation; and Tatiana Dovgalenko, Ambassador-at-Large and Director of the Africa Partnership Department.

University presidents from Namibia, Mali, Zimbabwe, South Africa, Cameroon, Benin, and Kenya will also participate.

Representing Egypt, Sherif Gad, President of the Egyptian Association of Graduates of Russian and Soviet Universities and Secretary-General of the Egyptian-Russian Friendship Association, will deliver a speech on Egypt-Russia cooperation in peaceful nuclear energy production.

He will discuss the training of Egyptian specialists in Russia, preparing them for work at the El-Dabaa nuclear project.

Gad will also highlight Russia’s practical training opportunities for Egyptian engineers at Russian nuclear reactors before their return to Egypt.

On the sidelines of the conference, a roundtable discussion titled "The Role of Alumni in Regional Development" will be held, focusing on how graduates of Russian universities contribute to development projects in their home countries.

The conference will be moderated by Dr. Larisa Yefremova, Director of the Initiative Projects Center at RUDN University.
