The Egyptian General Authority for Tourism Promotion, representing the Ministry of Tourism and Antiquities, is taking part in the 16th session of the COTTM International Tourism Exhibition in Beijing, China.
The event, running from November 16th to 17th, is the largest gathering of tourism professionals in China, attracting participants from all over the world. The exhibition presents an opportunity for effective communication and engagement with Chinese tour operators and other professional partners.
The Egyptian delegation is participating in the exhibition with a pavilion of 136 square meters that includes nine Egyptian hotels and tourism companies, in addition to the national airline EgyptAir.
The pavilion was opened by Deputy Head of the Diplomatic Mission in Beijing, Minister Plenipotentiary Haitham Abdel Hadi, on behalf of Ambassador Assem Hanafi, Egypt's Ambassador to China. The opening ceremony was attended by Mr. Mohamed Salama, Head of the Central Administration of Tourist Offices at the Egyptian General Authority for Tourism Promotion, and Professor Ibrahim Badr, who is responsible for the Authority’s Chinese market.
CEO of the Egyptian General Authority for Tourism Promotion, Amr El-Kady, stated that the participation in the exhibition is part of the Ministry of Tourism and Antiquities' strategy to promote Egypt as a tourist destination in targeted markets, including China. In addition, the exhibition provides an opportunity to learn about the proposals and opinions of tour operators and tourism companies operating in the Chinese market to increase incoming tourist traffic.
The Chinese market has seen increased direct air traffic between the two countries, including the opening of EgyptAir's direct flight line between Shanghai and Cairo. The first flight is scheduled for November 16th. Discussions are also underway to encourage cooperation and launch direct airlines between the two countries.
On the first day of the exhibition, Mohamed Salama held professional meetings with Chinese tour operators to discuss Egypt's tourism potential, their opinions and aspirations regarding Egypt as a tourist destination, and ways to enhance joint cooperation to attract more incoming tourist traffic from China.
