Egypt-Palestine Discuss Reconnecting Energy Grid

Mohamed Shaker, The Egyptian Minister of Electricity and Renewable Energy received Zafer Melhem, Head of the Energy and Natural Resources Authority in the State of Palestine to discuss bilateral cooperation between the two countries in the field of electricity and renewable energy.

Shaker explained, according to a press release issued Tuesday, what has been done in the electricity and renewable energy sector in Egypt, following the support and great interest of the political leadership, which led to the strength of the national grid and the reserve of electric energy that meets all needs.

Shaker referred to the ambitious strategic plan to produce energy from renewable sources by more than 42% by 2035, as well as green hydrogen, in which 26 memorandums of understanding were signed regarding the production and export of green hydrogen and its derivatives.

Shaker stressed the state's interest in the electrical connection between it and neighboring countries, in order to achieve the political vision for Egypt to be a pivotal center for energy exchange.

On his part, Melhem praised the great development that took place in the field of electricity and renewable energy in a short period.

He hinted at looking forward to bilateral cooperation in the field of electricity and benefiting from technical expertise in the fields of electricity and renewable energy, while examining the necessary requirements for reconnecting the electrical grid between the two countries.

At the end of the meeting, the two ministers stressed the future coordination of bilateral cooperation in the field of electricity and renewable energy.
