Egypt, Pakistan FMs Discuss Strategic Co-op, Regional De-escalation in Cairo

Badr Abdelatty, Minister of Foreign Affairs, International Cooperation, and Egyptian Expatriates, received today, Sunday, Mohammad Ishaq Dar, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan.

The meeting took place on the sidelines of the four-party regional meeting hosted in Cairo, where both sides discussed ways to enhance bilateral relations between the two friendly nations and exchanged views on regional and international developments of mutual interest.

Tamim Khallaf, Foreign Ministry official spokesperson stated that the two ministers praised the historical relations and close ties binding Egypt and Pakistan.

Moreover, they emphasized their commitment to continuing joint efforts to elevate bilateral cooperation across various political, economic, commercial, and investment fields, while exploring new horizons for partnership to serve the mutual interests of both countries and their friendly peoples.

For his part, Abdelatty affirmed Egypt's keenness to follow up on the outcomes of his recent visit to Pakistan, expressing anticipation for convening the 4th session of the Joint Ministerial Committee—co-chaired by the foreign ministers of both countries—as well as the 10th round of political consultations at the ministerial level.

Moreover, he noted that these meetings would provide an additional impetus to bilateral relations and strengthen existing cooperation frameworks.

Furthermore, Abdelatty stressed the importance of boosting economic and investment cooperation through business delegations and reciprocal visits between the business communities and chambers of commerce.

He also highlighted the potential of connecting Pakistani investors with promising opportunities in the Suez Canal Economic Zone (SCZONE) and expressed the shared desire to finalize procedures for launching the Egyptian-Pakistani Business Council.

The meeting also addressed several regional issues. In this regard, Abdelatty expressed appreciation for the efforts exerted by Pakistan, in coordination with regional partners, which contributed to reaching the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between the United States and Iran.

Additionally, he emphasized that this step is crucial for defusing tensions, sparing the region further escalation, and creating the necessary conditions to achieve a final, sustainable agreement that enhances regional security and stability.

For his part, Pakistani FM expressed his appreciation for the pivotal role Egypt has played over the past months, in coordination with regional and international partners, to support the negotiation process and bridge views between the parties, thereby contributing to a conducive climate for reaching the MoU.
