Egypt's Foreign Minister, Sameh Shoukry, held discussions with his Polish counterpart, Radoslaw Sikorski, reflecting on Egypt's crucial role in stabilizing the ongoing crisis in Gaza. During their conversation, Sikorski appreciated Egypt’s efforts in facilitating the repatriation of a Polish citizen killed in Gaza amidst Israeli operations.

Shoukry outlined Egypt's persistent endeavors at all levels to mediate and foster peace, particularly aiming to cease the hostilities and alleviate the humanitarian crisis in Gaza. He expressed gratitude towards Poland for supporting Egyptian medical facilities that treat injured Palestinians, highlighting the international cooperation facilitated through the European Civil Protection Mechanism (UCPM).

The ministers discussed the forthcoming inaugural session of the Egyptian-Polish Economic Committee scheduled in Warsaw in December 2024, aimed at enhancing bilateral economic ties. They also planned further diplomatic consultations to be held in Cairo later this year, reinforcing the strong partnership between Egypt and Poland.

Reaffirming Egypt's position, Shoukry emphasized the critical need for an immediate and sustained ceasefire in Gaza. He stressed the importance of unobstructed humanitarian aid to the Palestinian people and called for the implementation of UN Security Council Resolution 2720 and related resolutions. He unequivocally rejected any military operations in Rafah, citing their grave humanitarian consequences.

Shoukry’s remarks underscore Egypt’s commitment to leading diplomatic efforts aimed at ensuring peace and stability in the region, reflecting its role as a key mediator in Middle Eastern conflicts.
