Egypt offered its sincere condolences to Sudan, on Friday, over a gold mine collapse in West Kordofan that left dozens dead.

“Egypt offers its deep condolence to the families of the deceased, wishing a speedy recovery for the injured,” the Ministry of Foreign Affairs said in a statement, affirming solidarity and support for Sudan’s government and people in their loss.

On Tuesday, at least 38 people were killed after a gold mine collapsed in West Kordofan state in southern Sudan.

"The General Manager of the Sudanese Mineral Resources Company Limited mourns the death of 38 miners who died as a result of the collapse of Umm Draisaya mine," a government company announced in a statement.

The collapsed gold mine lies near El Nuhud town in West Kordofan state, nearly 500 km west of Sudan's capital Khartoum.
