Egypt Offers Condolences to China over Plane Crash

Egypt offered its sincere condolences to China over a plane crash in southern the country on Monday.

“Egypt offers its deep condolence to the families of the victims,” the Ministry of Foreign Affairs said in a statement, stressing solidarity and full support for the Chinese government and people in this tragic incident.

The Eastern Boeing 737-800 had 132 people on board when it crashed in a remote mountainous area of southern China, according to officials.

The Civil Aviation Administration of China revealed that the crash happened near the city of Wuzhou in the Guangxi region.

On his part, Chinese President Xi Jinping called for an “all-out effort” by the rescue operation, as well as for an investigation into the crash and to ensure complete civil aviation safety.

The flight 5735 had been traveling 455 knots (523 mph, 842 kph) at around 30,000 feet when it entered a steep pe around 2:20 p.m. local time, according to data from flight-tracking website FlightRadar24.com. The plane stopped transmitting data 96 seconds later.
