Egypt's Foreign Minister, Sameh Shoukry, received a phone call on July 17th from his Norwegian counterpart, Anniken Huitfeldt. In an official statement, Ahmed Abu Zeid, official spokesperson and director of public diplomacy at the Foreign Ministry, reported that the ministers discussed ways to strengthen Egypt-Norway relations and the latest developments in Sudan and Palestine.

The spokesperson clarified that both ministers expressed their countries' aspirations to enhance bilateral relations and raise them to higher levels in various fields. The Norwegian Minister was keen to inquire about Shoukry's assessment of the outcomes of the summit of countries neighboring Sudan, praising Egypt's initiative in holding the summit and expressing her hope that the efforts of Sudan's neighboring countries would contribute to resolving the Sudanese crisis and ending the ongoing war.

Minister Shoukry highlighted Egypt's efforts since the beginning of the crisis, advocating for an immediate ceasefire, welcoming Sudanese refugees in Egypt, and supporting the border crossings with medical and relief equipment to aid the arriving Sudanese.

Shoukry praised the consensus reached at the recent summit on full respect for Sudan's sovereignty and territorial integrity, non-interference in its internal affairs, the importance of preserving Sudanese state institutions, dealing seriously with the ongoing crisis and its humanitarian consequences, facilitating access to humanitarian aid across neighboring countries, emphasizing the importance of a political solution to end the ongoing conflict, and forming a ministerial mechanism on the crisis at the level of foreign ministers of neighboring countries.

In response to an inquiry from the Norwegian Foreign Minister, Shoukry discussed Egypt's assessment of the situation in the occupied Palestinian territories, stressing the need to stop the cycle of violence, put an end to repeated Israeli invasions against Palestinian towns and villages, and the importance of international efforts to achieve calm and restore hope in resuming the peace process.
