Egypt’s embassy in New Zealand, in coordination with the New Zealand–Middle East Business Council and the New Zealand Embassy in Cairo, took part in a virtual meeting to discuss investment and cooperation opportunities in Egypt’s renewable energy sector, officials said.

The meeting brought together representatives from Egyptian and New Zealand companies alongside officials from Egypt’s General Authority for Investment and Free Zones (GAFI), the New and Renewable Energy Authority (NREA), and the Egyptian-Australian Business Council.

Participants reviewed prospects for cooperation in renewable energy, highlighting New Zealand’s technological expertise in the sector and Egypt’s ongoing expansion of clean energy projects as part of its strategy to generate 45% of its electricity from renewable sources in the coming years.

Discussions focused on potential partnerships between Egyptian and New Zealand firms, the exchange of expertise in clean and renewable energy technologies, and available investment opportunities in the Egyptian market.

Officials also underlined the resilience of the Egyptian economy amid recent regional and global challenges, while pointing to investment opportunities across several sectors, particularly renewable energy, as Egypt seeks to attract more foreign investment and accelerate its energy transition.
