Badr Abdelatty, Minister of Foreign Affairs, Emigration, and Egyptian Expatriates, met on Tuesday with Javier Colomina, NATO Secretary General’s Special Representative for the Southern Neighborhood.

Tamim Khallaf, official spokesperson for Ministry of Foreign Affairs, stated that Abdelatty praised the current level of bilateral cooperation between Egypt and NATO.

He welcomed ongoing efforts to launch and activate partnership programs aimed at strengthening bilateral ties, expressing Egypt's interest in benefiting from the Alliance's expertise across various sectors.

In this context, Abdelatty commended the preparations for the first round of counter-terrorism dialogue between the two sides, as well as the bilateral expert workshop on mine clearance. Moreover, he emphasized Egypt's commitment to enhancing cooperation in capacity building and knowledge transfer, particularly in counter-terrorism, cybersecurity, mine clearance, and climate change.

FM also highlighted the capabilities of the Cairo International Center for Conflict Resolution, Peacekeeping, and Peacebuilding (CCCPA), which provides valuable contributions to capacity building in Africa, especially in combating extremist ideology in the Sahel region.

He expressed his aspiration to strengthen cooperation between NATO and the Center.

Furthermore, Abdelatty emphasized the importance of exchanging assessments with NATO regarding the increasing challenges and threats in the region.

He also reviewed Egyptian efforts to transition to the second phase of the U.S. President’s plan, stressing the importance of announcing a temporary Palestinian technocratic committee to manage the daily affairs of citizens in the Gaza Strip.

Moreover, he noted the formation of the international stability force in accordance with UN Security Council Resolution 2803.

Furthermore, FM condemned Israel's recognition of the so-called "Somaliland," explaining that it constitutes a violation of international law and breaches the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Somalia.

He also warned that such actions undermine stability in the Horn of Africa and cautioned against the dangers of escalation, which could destabilize the security of the region and the Red Sea.
