Egypt is implementing vital plans to go green as the petroleum sector took the initiative to the transition to low-carbon sources of energy.

A memorandum submitted by the Minister of Petroleum and Mineral Resources, Eng. Tariq Al-Mulla, to the Energy and Environment Committee in the House of Representatives (HoR) revealed the most important achievements of the Ministry of Petroleum within years from 2014/2015 through 2022.

The memorandum confirmed the success of the petroleum sector in taking many steps and measures and strengthening cooperation with foreign partners.

It pointed to the completion of vital projects to reduce emissions, which resulted in reducing 4.5 million tons of carbon dioxide annually.

These projects include delivering natural gas to 14 million housing units, resulting in reducing 845,000 tons of carbon dioxide annually, and converting 477,000 cars to run on natural gas, resulting in reducing 2.2 million tons of carbon dioxide annually.
