Egypt, Malaysia Stress Urgent De-escalation, Protection for Palestinians

President Abdel Fattah el-Sisi of Egypt welcomed Malaysian Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim at the Federal Palace to discuss bilateral relations and pressing regional issues.

Bilateral Cooperation:

The leaders lauded the excellent bilateral relations, aiming to intensify cooperation, especially in economic, trade, and joint investments, focusing on industries, communication technology, infrastructure, and food security.

Regional and Global Discussions:

The meeting also encompassed discussions on crucial regional and global topics, including counter-terrorism efforts, with the Malaysian Prime Minister appreciating Egypt's contributions as a beacon in the Islamic world, notably through the Al-Azhar institution.

Gaza Escalation:

They deliberated on the ongoing military escalation in Gaza, reflecting on the outcomes of discussions during the Cairo Peace Summit.

De-escalation Agreement:

Egypt and Malaysia concurred on the need for coordinated efforts to halt escalation, achieve calm, and ensure necessary protection for Palestinian civilians.

Humanitarian Access:

Both sides stressed the importance of continuous, safe, and immediate access to humanitarian aid for Gaza residents, with the Malaysian Prime Minister applauding Egypt’s extensive efforts.

Concerns on Violence Expansion:

They expressed concern over the potential spread of violence in the region, vehemently rejecting the idea of forcibly displacing Gaza residents.

Palestinian Issue Resolution:

The leaders reiterated that the only way out of the current crisis is a collective international effort to find a fair and comprehensive solution to the Palestinian issue, based on the two-state solution in line with international legality, preserving the legitimate rights of the Palestinian people.
