Egypt’s humanitarian aid to the Gaza Strip has continued uninterrupted since the opening of the Rafah border crossing, with Egyptian relief accounting for nearly 70 to 80 percent of all assistance reaching the enclave.
Aid deliveries are being coordinated continuously between the Egyptian Red Crescent and the Palestinian Red Crescent to determine urgent priorities and essential needs for Gaza’s residents.
Dozens of volunteers have been working tirelessly since midnight to prepare, load, and transport relief supplies to the border. Many trucks return immediately after unloading their cargo at the Kerem Abu Salem crossing to begin a new round of deliveries, ensuring a constant flow of humanitarian assistance into Gaza.
Rafah is expected to play a pivotal role in the next phase following the ceasefire, focusing on intensifying aid deliveries, facilitating the evacuation of the wounded and sick, and launching Gaza’s reconstruction process. This approach aligns with President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi’s recent remarks during a press conference emphasizing Egypt’s commitment to rebuilding Gaza.
Humanitarian aid is also arriving from several Arab countries through the Port of Arish and Arish Airport, while Egypt continues full coordination with international organizations, notably the United Nations. The UN Secretary-General recently commended Egypt as a key actor in providing sustained humanitarian support for Gaza.
Egypt’s efforts extend beyond humanitarian relief to include preventing displacement, supporting Palestinian statehood, and engaging in intensive diplomacy that has helped shift the positions of several countries toward the conflict. Cairo remains steadfast in viewing the Palestinian cause as an integral part of its national security and regional stability.
