Egypt launched the fourth phase of the project aimed at reviving the historical identity of Downtown Cairo, known as Khedivial Cairo, extending from 26th of July Street to Talaat Harb Square, as part of broader efforts to preserve the capital’s architectural and cultural heritage.

The project seeks to restore the civilizational character and visual harmony of streets and buildings across Khedivial Cairo, while preserving the area’s distinctive architectural style.

The initiative places strong emphasis on highlighting the aesthetic and historical features that define the district, contributing to an improved urban landscape and the creation of a more integrated and welcoming environment for residents and visitors alike.

Development plans also include supporting traditional crafts and commercial activities, alongside the rehabilitation of areas with historical and archaeological value. These efforts aim to transform Downtown Cairo into a vibrant cultural and tourism destination that reflects the city’s rich identity, deep-rooted history, and enduring heritage.

Officials involved in the project say the revitalization will enhance investment opportunities and promote local economic activities, reinforcing Downtown Cairo’s role as a dynamic urban center. By blending authenticity with modern urban standards, the project is expected to position the area as a living model that balances heritage preservation with contemporary development.
