Badr Abdel Atty, Minister of Foreign Affairs and Emigration and Expatriate Affairs, underscored the importance of increasing trade exchange and economic and investment cooperation with the Kyrgyz Republic.
This, he noted, should be achieved by linking the two countries through multiple transport corridors to overcome obstacles to the movement of goods, adding that this linkage would also open the door for Kyrgyz exports to access Africa and Europe, leveraging Egypt's strategic location, seaports, the Suez Canal, and preferential trade agreements signed by Egypt with various countries.
The remarks came during the Foreign Minister's reception of Zheenbek Kulubaev, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Kyrgyz Republic, where they discussed ways to enhance bilateral cooperation in various fields, especially economic, investment, cultural, and scientific areas.
Abdel Atty stressed the importance of the Kyrgyz Foreign Minister's visit, noting its role in giving a strong push towards enhancing the cooperation path between the two sides.
Moreover, he pointed to the necessity of exploring opportunities to develop economic, scientific, and cultural relations, in addition to the importance of convening the Joint Governmental Committee for Cooperation between the two countries at the earliest opportunity.
Furthermore, Abdel Atty reviewed the investment opportunities offered by the Egyptian economy to foreign investors, especially in the Suez Canal Economic Zone, and opportunities for joint manufacturing in priority sectors.
He also highlighted the expertise of Egyptian companies in infrastructure development, energy, minerals, and pharmaceutical industries, which provides an opportunity to leverage their expertise to meet the needs of the Kyrgyz market.
The meeting also addressed the need to intensify cooperation between religious institutions in both countries to confront extremist ideologies and the importance of coordination between the two states to combat terrorism.
Both sides expressed the necessity of enhancing cooperation within the framework of the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC), the Non-Aligned Movement (NAM), and other multilateral frameworks that bring Egypt and the Kyrgyz Republic together, foremost among them the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO), whose presidency the Kyrgyz Republic assumed in September 2025.
Abdel Atty also reviewed developments in the Middle East and Egypt's supportive role for peace, security, stability, and de-escalation in the region. He addressed Egyptian efforts to stabilize the Sharm el-Sheikh peace agreement and fully implement its provisions, in preparation for commencing the phase of reconstruction and enhancing stability in the sector.
In this context, he pointed to the ongoing preparations for holding the Cairo Conference for Early Recovery, Reconstruction, and Development in Gaza with broad regional and international participation.
At the conclusion of the meeting, the two ministers signed an agreement on the mutual exemption of visa requirements for holders of official passports between the two countries, within the framework of the shared desire to support coordination and joint cooperation in various fields.
