Egypt's Foreign Minister (FM) Sameh Shoukry said on Tuesday that Egypt values Kuwait's mediation efforts to reach Arab-Gulf reconciliation.

In televised remarks, Shoukry expressed hope that this agreement would take into account all causes which led to the current rift.

He added that new developments occurred during the last period in an effort to resolve the crisis. "It has been agreed to reach a comprehensive agreement that will be satisfactory and meet the interests of the so-called Arab quartet (Egypt, Saudi Arabia, Bahrain, and the UAE)."

Moreover, the FM added that the forthcoming deal must foster the principles of good neighbourliness, mutual respect and non-interference in the internal affairs of other countries, as well as avoiding anything that could sour fraternity ties between Arab states.

It is worth mentioning that, earlier on Tuesday, Foreign Ministry spokesperson Ahmed Hafez expressed Egypt’s appreciation for the continued efforts made by Kuwait to heal the Arab rift and settle the crisis, that erupted several years ago between Qatar and the Arab quartet countries.

“In this regard, we hope that these endeavours will result in a comprehensive solution that addresses all the causes of this crisis and guarantees strict and serious commitment to what will be agreed upon,” Foreign Ministry spokesperson said.
