On Monday, Egyptian President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi is set to pay an official visit to Jordan's capital Amman, at the invitation of Jordan's King Abdullah II, according to Petra News agency.
The Egyptian-Jordanian summit is of special importance, especially in light of the distinguished fraternal ties between the two countries, and their well-established strategic relations, as well as their pivotal role in the Palestinian issue.
They also enjoyed significant historic and cultural relations in all political, economic, social, and cultural fields, which facilitated the economic and cultural exchanges between the two countries.
This bilateral summit is being held amid several developments either at the international or regional levels.
Among those notable developments are the peace deals recently signed between Arab countries and Israel, as well as the presence of a new US administration, in addition to Palestinian president Mahmoud Abbas's announcement of the first Palestinian elections in 15 years.
Moreover, the visit comes a few days after Cairo hosted a quartet meeting attended by the foreign ministers of France, Germany, and Jordan.
They discussed coordination and consultation on ways to push forward with the Middle East peace process.
